A Euphonium player died and went to the pearly gates. Saint Peter welcomed him and gave him the good news that everything he'd ever heard about heaven was true and that the band of his dreams was sat waiting, with the solo euphonium chair vacant. They walked through the clouds up to the bandstand and the euphonium player was very excited about joining the performance - each and everyone of the players was a 'Star' from the past and William Halliwell was conducting, he even spotted Arban on Flugel! The only player he couldn't put a name to was the principal cornet and so he said to Saint Peter "Who's the old guy with the grey beard on the end chair?" Saint Peter said "Shhhh!, that's God, but HE thinks he's Phillip McCann!"

AAAAHHHHHH that VERY nasty bloke, that said "you were all crap but someone had to win" Cheers Stella ;D Was I the only one that day who thought that he'd hit the nail on the head with that remark. Although admittedley those were not his actual words. Probably one of our worst ever contest performances and one I'll personally try to forget!

There were elements of his remarks that all of us were forced to agree with but it was the way in which he delivered his message that makes the paraphrased remarks and David's joke absolutely spot on Maybe I should go on a quest to find someone who actually likes the chap... maybe life is too short

I think you'll find that Phil, as a signed member of Kinneils cornet section is pretty well loved down Bo'ness way. And if truth be told, I actually like the guy too, he's a fantastic ambassador for the world of brass. But his shirts .... Hmmmn -- different story !!!

Don't forget I must the be the only person alive to have been the MD of both bands at the same time, and lived to tell the tale. Dafydd ap Iago

The top end of course !!!!!!! So we've more than a first name in common. I was at Kinneil a week when I asked Tom McCormack why the two bands hadn't ever considered merging. I too lived to tell the tale ----- just
