Good luck to Whitburn,Kirkie and Co-op this weekend at British Open. 3 fantastic bands full of talented brass/percussion players with 3 excellent men at the helm.
Not sure what odds William Hill would give for all 3 Scottish bands being placed in the top 6, but maybe worth a flutter?

3 Scottish Bands in the top 10 is fantastic.Co-op getting a 4th, and Kirkie achieving a 7th off a number 2 draw also an amazing result in that company.Well done to all 3 bands.
Arguably the best bands and best contest in terms of standard in the world. Will always remember my first British Open at Belle Vue where band No.1 came on and I had them walking the contest as I had never heard playing like this before in my life. That was until the 2nd band came on, then I had them in front, and so on----------in other words, the standard and level of performance was amazing.(Fairey,s won in that day playing Carnival Romain;awesome performance)
There must be a fine dividing line between placings in this contest, and for 3 of Scotlands bands to be in that top 10 placings is a remarkable feat and a credit to all 3 bands players/conductors who were on show yesterday.

Agreed! This is the top contest in banding, and even just to be there is an achievement itself. The Scottish bands seem to be doing really well of recent years against some really tough bands, so to have all 3 in the top ten is an immense result! Congrats to all 3 bands, and of course to the winners Black Dyke.

Well done to Scottish Bands that made a good mark! A really good result for the Scottish Co.
I can't wait to hear the piece having heard Northern Lights on the Black Dyke 150th Anniversary DVD. Vienna Nights seems to be making an excelent impression and I for one am eager to hear it!
