Bill Shaw Memorial Contest

Hi all
Lochgelly band will be holding the 5th Bill Shaw Memorial Slow melody contest on 29th April in the 385 in Lochgelly. There is further information available on the band's website www.lochgellyband.com and I hope loads of people enter again this year. The previous contests have been great and a fitting tribute to not only a great bandsman but to a great man.

A big thanks to everyone who came to the contest on Sunday. Great results for Craig and Alison and of course the Dunfermline trio. Hope everyone there had a great day and are already practicing for next years event (provisionally the last Sunday in April). Although I was not able to be there this year (someone's got to put water in the bottles). I will be there to try and grapple the best Lochgelly player prize from Bill Guyan, or is John Martin man enough to take me on yet???

As Lee said I hope to see much more in the junior section (and seniors) next year as the various initiative start to kick in. We try to make sure the contest is as relaxed as possible and is a great first step into the world of solo performance. I'm sure Bill would approve of this contest and it is such a pity that he is no longer here to be part of it.
